Gone are the days of waiting in long queues at the JPJ office! Renewing your roadtax in Malaysia is now a breeze, thanks to online platforms like MyEG and MySikap. This article will guide you through the process of renewing your roadtax online using either of these platforms.
What is Roadtax?
Road tax is a mandatory annual tax imposed on all motor vehicle owners in Malaysia. It's essentially a user fee that contributes to the government's revenue used for:
Maintaining and developing road infrastructure: This includes building and repairing roads, bridges, and other transportation systems.
Funding public transport facilities: The revenue from road tax helps support public buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation.
What You'll Need:
An internet connection
A valid MyEG or MySikap account (if you don't have one, you'll need to register)
Your vehicle registration number
Your MyKad or passport number
A debit or credit card for payment
Renewing via MyEG:
Visit the MyEG website and log in to your account.
Click on the "Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ)" option, then select "Road Tax Renewal".
Choose your vehicle type from the available options.
Enter your identification details (MyKad, MyKas, MyPR, Passport, etc.), full name, and vehicle registration number.
Select your preferred renewal period for the roadtax.
Review the details and proceed to payment using your debit or credit card.
Look for the "Road Tax Renewal" section on the homepage or search for it within the portal.
Enter your vehicle registration number and MyKad/passport number.
The system will retrieve your vehicle information and display the available renewal options.
Choose your preferred renewal period and proceed to payment using the available online payment methods.
Renewing via MyJPJ:
Launched in February 2024, it allows for a fully digital road tax experience.
Download and install the MyJPJ app on your smartphone (available on Apple App Store, Google Playstore, and Huawei AppGallery).
Register or log in to your MyJPJ account.
Go to the "Profile" section and tap on "Roadtax."
Select the vehicle registration number you want to renew (if you have multiple vehicles).
Click the "Renew" button displayed for the chosen vehicle.
Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the renewal period and choose your preferred payment method (debit/credit card or online banking).
Once payment is successful, your digital road tax will be readily available within the MyJPJ app. You can access the digital copy anytime and even screenshot the QR code for easier access during traffic stops.
Delivery and Completion:
After successful payment on either platform, your new roadtax sticker will be conveniently delivered to your registered mailing address within 3-5 working days.
