2. Scope

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and the officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM. The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM. The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).

3. Key Responsibilities

a. Design and develop, or update, and deliver teaching materials to students using a range of methods and platforms.

b. Develop, administer, and grade assessments on students.

c. Monitor students’ performance and attendance.

d. Supervise undergraduate or postgraduate students in research, community, and/or clinical activities.

e. Contribute to the development/review, planning, and implementation of curriculum.

g. Apply for research funding support.

f. Conduct research and produce publications or other research outputs.

h. Establish and maintain network/collaboration with other institutions, as well as with industrial, commercial, or public organizations for research or professional purposes.

i. Attend workshops/seminars/conferences for continuous professional development or improvement.j. Participate in working groups or committees at the department, Kulliyyah, university, national or international levels.

k. Uphold the university’s philosophy, vision, mission, and educational goals at all times.

4. Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in any of the following fields: Dietetics, Nutrition or Foodservice Management from any international or local institution
of

higher learning recognised by the Government or equivalent.
Previous teaching experience.
Published work would be advantageous.

5. Minimum Competencies

Ability to inspire students with your passion.
Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
High degree of integrity.
A good team player.
Membership in any relevant governmental body/ Non-Governmental Organization would be advantageous.

6. Language Qualifications

All candidates must have obtained:

a. Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).

b. IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
