German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) is a joint project between the Governments of Malaysia and the Federal Republic of Germany with the implementing agencies which are Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), now known as GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit) (The German Society for International Cooperation).
Incorporated on the 1st of September 1992, opening ceremony was done by the Prime Minister of Malaysia on 31 May 1994. Established as Center for advanced skills training in the fields of Production Technology and Industrial Electronics in order to support Malaysia’s industry by producing qualified highly skilled technologist with the modern technology.
