a2 Gallery was conceptualized and opened by two individual artists, Alfred and Jeff, in September, 2007.
The Gallery is located in Bangkok Lane, Penang, Malaysia. Conveniently close to tourist attractions, hotels and shopping malls, it occupies one unit in a street of colonial houses that are an attraction in themselves.
The Gallery features local and international artists who exhibit regularly. The set mission is to encourage art lovers to see art as interpreted by artists from different cultural backgrounds. We also encourage young and upcoming artists to show with us, thus providing them with a platform in reaching out to a wider appreciative public and avid collectors.
Most of the gallery's collection are of contemporary modern art pieces, but we also have other genre of artworks making for a wider choice. The Gallery provides professional knowledge in art appreciation to new beginners. Workshops on ‘art-talk’ will be held regularly for those who have the interest to know more about art and art history, etc.
"Garden Rooms" located at both ground and first floors of the Gallery are alternative spaces for rendezvous and relaxation. They create an intimate atmosphere amid the artistic elegance.
