It could be said that the foundation for the formation of GELFAAM was laid by the late A.C. Celestine in 1978. In 1980, GELFAAM was officially formed. Through these years, the Association has weathered the ebbs and flow of the fortunes of the industry and the company. The core center aim is always targeted at the enhancement and preservation at the agency contract with Great Eastern Life in respect to remunerations and retirement benefits and support facilities accorded to the members of the field force.

It is altogether an attempt to provide an enclave of security to all agents who have contributed one way or another to the prosperity of the company. As an off-shoot to this, the Association has thrusted itself into the national front to assist in stabilizing a situation characterized by onslaughts of restructuring and massive intrusion of the Agency System which periods have now come to be known as the “perilous days prior to the OCC implementation in 1996”.

Looking back at the brief history in time, it does matter that GELFAAM existed to fill a need for progressive construction towards a fraternity of professional Financial Consultants who have found their placing in looking after the financial stability of the hundreds of thousands of policyholders. But, more importantly, is that GELFAAM has positioned itself to look forward to an era shell-shocked by the forces of change and impounded by the flow of technology. However, the leadership has braced itself for this landing and will be prepared to transform their 8,000 + membership into the finest example of Financial Counselors yet in the financial industry.
