The Institutional Investors Council Malaysia (IIC) came into existence on 3 July 2015, subsequent to the introduction of the Malaysian Code for Institutional Investors (MCII) on 27 June 2014. Its primary objective is to represent the collective interests of institutional investors in Malaysia.
As an industry-driven initiative, the IIC serves as a platform to shape and influence a broader corporate governance landscape, with a particular emphasis on the effective implementation of the MCII. The establishment of the IIC aligns with the recommendations outlined in the Corporate Governance Blueprint 2011, launched by the Securities Commission (SC) in July 2011. The IIC was formally established under the Societies Act 1966 on 29 December 2017 and has 30 members to date.
